About the event
About the film:
Written and directed by Simón González Vélez, Jaguar: Voice Of A Territory is a Colombian documentary that took a decade to complete. It talks about love, affection, respect, humility, temperance and courage. It talks about balance with oneself and the other. It is the voice of a territory and a tradition where the jaguar dwells and seeks to be heard. It is a tour through the mountains, jungles and plains where the jaguar has directly engaged with humans, creating a millenary journey of chants, myths and cultural traditions which narrate the history of the man-jaguar relationship, and speak to the importance of preserving this species which finds itself severely threatened.
About the event: Presented as a satellite event of the Earth in Focus Singapore Nature Film Festival 2024, this screening is part of the Colombian Cultural Diplomacy program that aims to reflect Colombia’s identity and establish dialogues with the Singaporean community. As host to the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the Convention on Biological Diversity in 2024, the Embassy of Colombia in Singapore hopes to use this screening to draw attention to strategic ecosystems that are especially at risk of disappearing due to human activities, such as land use changes, pollution and climate change.
